Ninja Air Fryer

This 4 quart Ninja air fryer is a good size for 1-3 people. You may have to cook in multiple batches for 3 people (depending on what you are cooking), but it will work. This is a reliable, basic basket-style air fryer that has good reviews.

This air fryer takes up just slightly less space than and stand mixer, it cooks fast, it’s easy to wash, and the controls are easy to navigate.

The downside of this air fryer, as with many air fryers, is the initial off-gassing in the first few uses. Use in a well ventilated area the first few times you use it.

Also, be sure to read your warranty and understand it. As with all air fryers, we encourage you to purchase an extended warranty if one is available. Note that purchasing this air fryer through amazon instead of directly from the company may change what the standard 1-year warranty covers. So do your research on this one.

Ninja Air Fryer Max XL

This air fryer is a good size for between 3 to 5 people. It has a temperature range of 105 to 450F. With this air fryer, you can air fry, air roast, air broil, bake, reheat and dehydrate. This appliance also has good reviews. The larger basket on this air fryer lets you cook up to 3 pounds of fries or chicken wings in one batch. It cooks 30% faster than the Ninja Air Fryer. And just a side note, you should always get the biggest air fryer you can afford and fit in your kitchen. You will never regret getting a bigger air fryer, but you usually regret getting one that is too small for your needs.

The complaints on this air fryer seem to be generalized and unique from person to person. There doesn’t seem to be any major issues with this one, however, off-gassing was mentioned with this appliance as well (though not as much as the Ninja Air Fryer).

Ninja Air Fryer Grill

If you are considering the Ninja air fryer grill, you have two options. Both are nearly identical, but the pro version comes with an Integrated Smart Probe. There are varying opinions on how well the probe works, but the idea is that you insert the probe into your food while it cooks and the oven should automatically notify you when your food reaches the correct temperature. Note: there is no company video for the Ninja Foodie Pro. However, this video is a review that covers both the Ninja Foodie and the Ninja Foodie Pro.

Ninja Foodie

The Ninja Foodie has good reviews. It has a temperature range of 105 to 500F, and is a wonderful way to grill indoors. This is almost like a George Forman grill, but with major upgrades and additional functions. This air fryer also handles frozen foods quite well on the grilling function.

This is a heavy, durable, well made air fryer that offers five functions in one machine. Air Fry, Roast, Bake, Dehydrate or Grill with the convenience of one kitchen appliance.

This is a good grill and air fryer, but the main complaint seems to be that it smokes more than other air fryers. Cooking in a well ventilated area should help. You can always put it on your stove top and turn on the fan overhead. Typically, air fryers smoke more with fattier foods. But this is the case for all air fryers. So it all depends on what you cook.

Ninja Foodie Pro

There is no real difference between the Ninja Foodie and the Ninja Foodie Pro (as far as the functions and size are concerned), other than the smart probe that comes with the Ninja Foodie Pro. This air fryer also claims to control smoke, which was a somewhat common complaint with the Ninja Foodie.

With this air fryer, you can grill, air fryer, roast, bake and dehydrate in one appliance. There is no need to check your food with a thermometer because the smart probe does it all for you and will let you know when your food reaches it’s pre-selected temperature.

The grill setting gives you the option to set how grilled you want your food to be with a low, medium, high, and max setting. So you can have those delicious char marks on your steak any way you like.

Complaints on this Ninja Foodie Pro are that you must clean it out after each use because back-to-back batches do indeed create smoke. That being said, this is a pretty easy air fryer to clean, so it shouldn’t be that big of a deal to do that.

If you decide to purchase this air fryer, make sure to use only high smoke point oils.

Ninja Air Fryer Pressure Cooker

This Ninja Air Fryer Pressure Cooker is a lot of appliances in one! If you are going for a maximum number of functions in an air fryer, this may be the one for you. This air fryer pressure cooks, air crisps, sears/sautés, bakes, broils, steams, slow cooks, dehydrates and makes yogurt. This appliance has rave reviews from a very high percentage of users. As with any appliance, there are always one or two lemons, but overall, this air fryer is very highly rated.

In minutes, you can pressure cook to defrost frozen meats and then use the crisping lid to finish it off. Using multiple cooking methods in one appliance makes it super easy to achieve your desired meal.

Complaints on this machine are varied, which is always a good sign that is attributed to an individual appliance having an issue instead of all of them having one major issue. A couple complaints were that the cooking time chart/book it comes with doesn’t give much information. One or two people complained about an initial smell which is common with air fryers. In most cases, this goes away after cooking a few batches of food. Some suggest running a few cycles with potatoes that you can easily discard after cooking. The potatoes help soak up the smell, the are cheap and easily sacrificed, and you can cook just one potato to run the cycle.

Ninja Air Fryer Oven

This is an impressive toaster oven air fryer with 8 functions! With this air fryer you can air fry, air roast, air broil, bake, bagel, toast, dehydrate, and keep your food warm. The amazing function on this air fryer is that it flips up on it’s end to give you back your counter space after cooking! We love that!

It’s big enough to cook at 13 inch pizza and the removable parts are dishwasher safe for easier clean up. This also has an impressive toasting function that lets you choose your desired level of toastiness. So no guess on what amount of time will equal your perfect level of toasty!

Cleaning is fairly easy compared to other air fryers. Food gets nice and crispy on the air fryer function and it preheats quickly. Should cook for up to 3 people.

Complaints are varied, but include that the actual cooking space is not very large. Some suggest that this would be a better oven for 1 to 2 people.

Ninja Air Fryer Accessories

  • It is unclear if the cake pan will fit in the Ninja Air Fryer Toaster Oven
  • Muffin cups are great for cooking eggs, muffins, cupcakes, candy making and small breads.

Ninja Air Fryer Reviews

Overall, all Ninja air fryers have really great ratings. There will always be a few appliances that slide under the quality control radar, but overall, it’s hard to go wrong with a Ninja Air Fryer.

Again, we encourage you to read and fully understand your warranty, and if an extended warranty is available, we highly recommend it. They are usually worth the investment many times over if something goes wrong. Just be sure you understand the differences in your warranty if you purchase through Amazon or from the company directly. Warranties can change depending on where you purchase your appliance.

Conclusion

When it comes to Ninja air fryers, it’s hard to make a “wrong” choice. What you really need to consider is they type of functions you need in an air fryer. Consider the types of foods you make most often and go with an air fryer that best suits those needs.

When it comes to the size you need, that will depend on how many people you actually cook for on a regular bases as well as how much counter space you have. Remember, you’ll need at least 5 inches of clearance around your air fryer for proper ventilation and general air flow. You can read more about choosing the size you need here.

You will definitely want to understand whatever warranty the company offers and opt for an extended warranty whenever available. Keep in mind that air fryers (even the best of them), are not known for their long lifespans. So having a good warranty in place can save you from having to purchase an entirely new air fryer if yours breaks down.

Where accessories are concerned, you’ll want to search for accessories that you will not only use, but that will fit into the air fryer you choose. So accessories can require a bit of research, but they are well worth the investment because they will easily extend the types of foods you can cook in your air fryer.

Don’t forget, it’s important to take note on what wattage your kitchen can handle. You don’t want to blow a fuse turning on your air fryer. So make sure your kitchen electrical can handle the wattage on your air fryer. Most kitchens will be just fine, but as air fryers get more powerful and draw more wattage, older electrical systems may have a hard time keeping up. So choose carefully.

And if you aren’t totally sold on Ninja air fryers, here are some other air fryers you may want to consider.

Need air fryer cooking times? This chart will give you cooking times for different foods. Just be aware that every air fryer is slightly different and will have slightly different cooking times and temperatures. So just this chart as a jumping off point. It’s best to print it out and tape it to your fridge or inside a cabinet where you can easily make a quick note on the appropriate time and temperature for your own, individual air fryer as you cook.
