Air fryer turkey burgers are a delicious alternative to grilling. There’s no propane or charcoal, no warming up the grill, and no cleaning it afterwards!

If you’ve ever wondered how to properly cook turkey burgers in an air fryer, read on for complete details.

Can You Make Turkey Burgers In An Air Fryer?

Absolutely! In fact, one could argue that air fryers are quite possibly the best way to make turkey burgers, or burgers in general. It’s a no fuss, no muss approach to making turkey burgers that gets the job done quickly and with tons of flavor. We highly recommend it!

Air Fryer Turkey Burgers With No Breadcrumbs

Some people will put breadcrumbs in their burgers, and there is nothing wrong with that. But when it comes to getting dinner on the table, less in more. At least from our perspective.

You can certainly add breadcrumbs if you wish. And if that is your preference, we recommend about half a cup for this recipe.

Simply knead them into the meat prior to dividing it into equal portions. And if you so choose, you can mix in the spices as well at the same time.

Ground Turkey Vs. Ground Turkey Breast

Ground turkey will have more flavor and better texture. However, it is also higher in fat. The finished turkey patties will be darker in color.

Ground turkey breast will be a tiny bit “rubbery” and have a more bland flavor, but it has less fat. The finished turkey patties will be lighter in color.

Either one will work here. Choose according to your health goals or flavor/texture preferences.

What You’ll Need To Make These Easy Air Fryer Turkey Burgers

1 lb. ground turkey – You can use either regular ground turkey, or ground turkey breast. Whichever one you prefer.

½ tsp. ground black pepper – White pepper works well here too. Use what you have on hand.

½ tsp. salt – We hate giving measurements for salt because everybody has their own preferences. This measurement will salt your patties really well. It may be too much for some people. If you are worried, start with less and then season with more if needed after cooking. Or don’t add any to the raw meat, and just sprinkle on a little after they are cooked. Whatever works best for you.

½ tsp. ground rosemary – This must be ground into a powder. Don’t use dried rosemary (leaves).

How Long Do You Cook Turkey Burgers In An Air Fryer

While every air fryer will be slightly different, on average, a quarter pound turkey patty will take 12-15 minutes to cook. When cooking multiple turkey patties, you’ll need closer to the 15 minute mark.

What Temperature Do You Cook Turkey Burgers To?

Make sure to check the turkey patties with a meat thermometer, no matter how long you cook them for. A turkey patty cooked to a safe temperature should reach 165 F. or higher.

Air Fryer Turkey Burgers Frozen

If you buy your turkey burgers frozen, you don’t have to thaw them first before air frying them. You can put them directly from the freezer into the air fryer.

How Long Do You Air Fry Frozen Turkey Burgers?

Frozen turkey burgers can be cooked at either 390 F or 400 F. for 13-20 minutes, depending on your air fryer.

Do You Need To Flip Burgers In Air Fryer?

Flipping foods is always recommended in an air fryer. It promotes even cooking and ensures that the hot air from the air fryer reaches all sides of your food, no matter what you are cooking. Flipping your burgers half way through the cooking time is always recommended.
