Benefits Of Eating Carrots

Carrots are a healthy and delicious vegetable full of important vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that your body needs to stay healthy. Carrots contain potassium, fiber, and vitamin A, in addition to beta-carotene, which gives carrots their orange color.

Carrots promote eye health, especially as it relates to night vision, and heart health. Carrots also improve the immune system, reduce inflammation, and improve memory and brain function. Carrots are naturally low in calories, but big on flavor, especially when roasted or air fried, which makes them a great snack or side dish if you are watching your diet.

Are Air Fryer Carrot Fries Healthy?

Yes, carrot fries are healthy especially when compared to traditional potato fries that have been deep fried in oil. Carrot fries are an excellent and tasty way to get some additional vegetables in your diet and even kids will love them.

Air frying uses much less oil than deep frying, and if you want to use minimal oil for air frying you can simply spritz your carrot fries with avocado or olive oil instead of tossing them in oil with seasonings.

How To Get Your Carrot Fries Crispy

Crispy air fryer carrot fries are not as hard as you may think to accomplish. As with most air fryer recipes, it just takes a little knowhow.

The more thinly you cut your carrot fries the faster they will cook, and the crispier they will be. Flipping your carrot fries halfway through the cooking time will help ensure a crisp carrot fry when they are done.

You can also add a bit of corn starch or arrowroot powder to your seasonings that you toss the carrot fries in before you begin cooking them. When you place them inside of the basket of your air fryer make sure that they aren’t touching so that the air can circulate freely and crisp your fries on all sides. If you need a large amount of carrot fries you may have to cook them in multiple batches.

Can You Air Fry Carrot Chips?

Yes! You can absolutely air fry carrot chips instead of carrot fries. You will just need to cut your carrots into coins instead of strips for fries. Alternatively, you can use carrots that have already been cut into chips in the produce department of your local grocery store.

Prepare your carrot fries with your seasonings of choice and place them in a single layer inside of your air fryer. Make sure you leave some space in between the fries so that they can get crispy and delicious. Cook the carrot fries in your air fryer on 400 degrees for 5 to 6 minutes and shake them or turn them halfway through the cooking time.

Can I Make Carrot Fries In An Oven?

Yes, you can make carrot fries in an oven instead of in an air fryer. The reason many people prefer making carrot fries in the air fryer is because they can be made in about half the time as it takes to make them in the oven.

If you do decide to make them in the oven, they will still be crispy on the outside, tender on the inside and absolutely delicious. To make carrot fries in the oven you will need to prepare them the same way as you would to put them in an air fryer. After they are seasoned and oiled, place the carrot fries on a parchment lined baking sheet and cook in an oven preheated to 425 degrees for about 25 minutes flipping halfway through until they reach your desired crispness.

How Do You Cut Carrots Into Fries?

Wash, dry, and peel your carrots. Cut off the top of the carrot and then cut each carrot in half. Cut each of the carrot halves into two so that you have a flat surface to work with. Now cut your carrots into fries. You should get approximately three carrot fries from the larger end of the carrot and two carrot fries from the smaller end.

What Do You Season Air Fryer Carrot Fries With?

Air fryer carrot fries are delicious straight out of the fryer, served warm with a little sprinkling of salt. However, there are lots of amazing and delicious seasoning combinations that also work well with air fryer carrot fries.

Some seasonings that you might like to try tossing your air fryer carrot fries with include:

  • Brown sugar and cinnamon – if you are looking for something on the sweet side then this flavor combination is for you.
  • Dill, salt, pepper–  Dried dill with a little bit of salt and pepper also makes some flavorful air fryer carrot fries.
  • Paprika, garlic powder and salt–  The paprika brings out the sweetness of the carrots and gives them an amazing, and possibly addictive taste.
  • Italian seasoning– Want your air fryer carrot fries to have an Italian flavor? Simply toss them with a little bit of dried Italian seasoning and a dash of salt and top off with a sprinkle of freshly chopped parsley.
  • Indian spice – Try a mix of cumin, curry powder, ground coriander, and black pepper.
  • Cheese fries – Sprinkle the cooked carrot sticks with some grated parmesan cheese and garlic powder.

Dipping Sauce Ideas

Not only can you season your air fryer carrot fries with a variety of spice combinations, you can also dip them into your favorite dipping sauce or make your own.

Some suggestions include:

  • ranch dressing
  • spicy ketchup (ketchup with a dash of sriracha)
  • bbq sauce
  • spicy mayo

Can You Dehydrate Carrots In An Air Fryer?

Are you looking for a crunchy snack similar to a potato chip, but healthier, and wondering if you can use your air fryer to dehydrate carrot chips? Why yes, you can! Simply set your air fryer on the dehydrate setting at 130 degrees for four hours or until your carrots are at the level of crispness that you would like.

FAQ’S

Can you use frozen carrots for carrot fries or chips in the air fryer?

Yes, you can use frozen carrots, and you don’t need to thaw them before cooking. They may require an additional few minutes to cook.

How do you reheat leftover carrot fries?

You can reheat leftover carrot fries by placing them in your air fryer for 3-5 minutes at 325 degrees.

What if my carrot fries are still soggy?

If your carrot fries are coming out of the air fryer soggy they may have been too wet when they went in. Make sure you dry the water off of your fries before cooking. Alternatively you can coat them in cornstarch before air frying them.
