A good bagel recipe can sometimes require plenty of work and quite a bit of time in the kitchen. But this recipe cuts down on time and effort and cooks up quick in your air fryer. Make a double batch on the weekend and enjoy bagels all week long! (With or without the blueberries!)

Why Use An Air Fryer For Bagels?

Sometimes, it’s better to make small batches of things. We don’t always need or want dozens of bagels at one time. Typically, air fryer bagel recipes will make smaller batches of bagels. They will also cook/bake the bagels faster than an oven.

Another benefit is that you won’t have to heat up and entire oven for just a few bagels. This is particularly helpful in the warmer months of the year.

Basic Air Fryer 2 Ingredient Bagels

So the recipe below is expanded off a very basic recipe that will work with any flavoring you choose to add.

– 1 cup yogurt
– 1 cup self-rising flour

That’s it! Knead those two ingredients together and you’ll have excellent bagel dough.

About The Ingredients

Yogurt – Make sure it’s plain and unsweetened for a basic bagel. Only opt for flavored yogurt or sweetened yogurt if it suits the other flavors you intend on adding. The recipe below is a good example of this.

Flour – Make sure this is self-rising flour. Other flours sort of work, but not as well.

What You’ll Need For This Bagel Recipe

  • 1 cup vanilla yogurt
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. chia seeds
  • 1 tbsp. flaxseed
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries

How To Make Bagels In An Air Fryer

To bake these bagels in an air fryer, you may want to consider an egg wash once you have the bagels formed and sitting in the air fryer basket or tray. A quick brush of egg with a basting brush will give you a nice, golden finish.

If you want seed or spices topping your bagels, sprinkle them on once the bagels are sitting in the air fryer basket or tray. You can always empty out anything that falls to the bottom before baking. But you don’t want to move your bagels after that.

If you are using egg wash, brush that on first and then add seeds or spices.

How To Toast A Bagel In An Air Fryer

To toast a bagel in an air fryer, you’ll want to cut it open horizontally.

Place it in the air fryer basket or on the tray and air fry for 3 minutes at 365 F.

Flip the bagel halves and air fry for an additional 3 minutes.

Add your favorite schmear and enjoy!

How To Make Air Fryer Pizza Bagels

If you make a basic dough as mentioned above, you can make easy air fryer pizza bagels!

Simply cut your bagels in half horizontally, top with your favorite pizza toppings and air fryer for 6-7 minutes (or until the cheese is melted to your liking) at 350 F.

Note that if you make your own bagels for this, you may want to keep the bagel holes small so your toppings don’t fall through the middle as much.

Frozen Bagel Bits In An Air Fryer

If you purchase bagel bites from the freezer section of the store, simply pop them onto the tray or in the basket and air fry at 360 F. for 5-6 minutes.
