How to make air-fried ice cream:
48 oz. tub vanilla ice cream – You can use any flavor ice cream you prefer.
½ cup flour – all purpose works fine.
3 cups Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cereal – See suggestions for other topping ideas.
3 large egg whites
Using an ice cream scoop, scoop out about 1 cup of ice cream per ball. (Each scoop of vanilla ice cream should be about the same amount you would use to make an ice cream sandwich.) Mold into a ball and place in a muffin tin. If you don’t have a muffin tin, you can use a parchment-lined baking sheet. But you’ll have less mess with a muffin pan. Place in freezer for 1 hour.
If your ice cream is very hard, you can either let it sit out for a few minutes before scooping, or you can fill a shallow bowl with warm water and dunk your ice cream scoop into the water between each scoop. Keep some paper towels handy incase you get some drips.
Remove from freezer and roll each frozen ice cream ball in the flour. Pop them back into the freezer for 1 hour.
Crush cereal into crumbs and whisk the egg until foamy. Roll all the balls of ice cream in the egg whites, then coat them with the cereal crumb mixture. Place the coated ice cream balls back into the freezer for 4hours or overnight.
Preheating your air fryer is critical, if it has a preheating function. Don’t skip preheating! Remove the ice cream balls from the freezer and, using a slotted spoon, set an ice cream ball on a piece of aluminum foil in the air fryer basket. Cook on 350 degrees F. for 2 minutes.
Eat with toppings immediately.
As you can see, making air-fried ice cream is quick and easy! Plus, it’s a healthier alternative to traditional fried ice cream. So go ahead and give it a try – you won’t be disappointed!
